Champions on Parade

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino unveiled the plans for Red Sox Championship Parade Saturday Morning starting at 10:00 am. This is not your ordinary parade. It rolls. Jennifer Peter of the AP has the details on the 'rolling parade'.

The city will toast its first World Series champions in 86 years with a parade Saturday that will stretch from the Fenway to City Hall Plaza, but won't include the traditional rally at its end because of concerns about the size of the crowd and security.

Guess there was not enough pepper spray pellet guns to control the expected millions of unarmed citizens?

Pittsburgh in a Bottle

Why is this man so mad? Could it be his career playoff record of 7 wins and 8 losses? Or is his Roethlis Burger missing that sassy Teresa Heinz Ketchup?

Maggi Newhouse of the Pittsburgh Trib tackles the ongoing Burger mania in the steel city.

Peppi's on the North Side has the "Roethlisburger," a "straight from the farm" concoction of beef, sausage, scrambled eggs and American cheese. The price for No. 7's namesake sub? $7, of course.

"And it goes great with Heinz," owner Jeff Trebac said.

If breakfast on a bun isn't your thing, there's the "Ben Roethlis-burger" at Brentwood Express on Route 51. The $3.95 burger comes with bacon, barbecue sauce, ranch dressing and Cheddar and provolone cheeses.

Yummy. The Roethlis burger for breakfast and lunch.

Wait Til This Year!

The Boston Red Sox are World Champions. That's right. The Boston Red Sox are World Champions. October 27, 2004. The Boston Red Sox are World Champions. The Red Sox along with a unnamed headless, ghoulish fan celebrate on the field of Busch Stadium after their World Series win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Red Sox defeated the Cardinals 3-0 to win the series in four straight games.

Roethlis Burgers for All

The Championship drought in Pittsburgh has reached a new low. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Steeler faithful has quickly thrown their hopes and dreams behind rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger. Not only has Ben make an immediate impact on the 5-1 Steelers, but he has inspired a new generation of tailgate delicacy known as the Roethlis Burger. The battles over how Teresa Heinz Ketchup fits into this delicacy is reaching a boiling point on Ben's message board

Name: Ryan
Message: I am a huge Steeler fan and I am getting ready for the BIG game against NE this weekend. I am going to tailgate this week. Just a question to everyone in the forum, What should I put in the Roethlis "burgers" I plan to grill? Thank You

On to the replies:

Name: I love black and gold
Message: You're going to tailgate ALL WEEK? Oh my goodness, who are you and WHY aren't you my best friend yet?? And if 'all week' isn't what you meant, you totally should. That would be awesome. And yeah, onions! And some delicious HEINZ ketchup, the only ketchup in the freakin world.

Name: Kempion
Message: Skip the Heinz cat-soup. Roethlis-burger is pure angus beef topped with steak sauce, monterey jack and grilled onions on a lightly grilled rye bun.

Name: I love black and gold
Message: no disrespect.. but never skip the Heinz That's Pittsburgh in a bottle right there.

Name: Patrick
Message: Put in Swiss Chees!!! Original Swiss Emmentaler. Bens ancestors are from the Emmental, the place where also the chees with the big holes is from. www.emmentaler.ch

Name: Kempion
Message: I'll compromise on the BBQ sauce/hot sauce... make it a spicy BBQ sauce. NO heinz, ever. NO swiss cheese, Ben is AMERICAN.
Do you want a great Roethliburger or a sloppy mess made of loyalty to corporations and some goofy ancestry?

Jets Grounded at Gillette

It's a familiar storyline Monday mornings in Patriot Nation. The New England Patriots make the key plays and their opponents continue to walk away shaking their heads of what could have been. Yesterday resulted in more of the same with a 13-7 victory over the visiting New York J-E-T-S to extend their unbeaten streak to 21 games.

The Boston Herald takes a day off from close ups of a dead girl shot by the police to bring you the game story by Michael Felger.

The Patriots are nothing more than a broken record.

A broken record in terms of the way they play. A broken record in terms of their winning streak. A broken record in terms of how, week after week, you can break down their victories using the same analysis.

Ron Borges takes a look at the Pats velvet touch.

It seems to happen every Sunday. That's the one thing opponents of the New England Patriots can count on these days. Something will happen.
You never can guess just what. You never can predict who or how or why. But the one constant in what has become a 21-game winning streak is that at some point the Patriots' opponent becomes a co-conspirator in its demise.

They do not overwhelm, these Patriots don't. Annihilation is not the Patriot Way. Knockout by velvet hammer is more the approach.
